This particular piece is inspired by the story of Maui climbing the aka to seek the baskets of knowledge.

On his ascent up the heavens he met the atua: Rehua.

During their hui, it is said that Rehua took out his top knot and shook his makawe (his hair) and from it came all sorts items and creatures.

The star in the coronet of his forehead as well as his eyes are remniscent of his physcial constellation in the sky. When using the heru piece you can hold it up to the main star in his consteallation and the two other stars will naturally fall where his eyes are and will light up.
